There are 4 main areas on the RigSkills Site:

• Main portal site: build and maintain the RigSkills website, This area is maintained by RigSkills Canada.
• My Website: this area is a corporate web space for RigSkills clients who would like to share and collaborate with others.
• My Stuff : this is a ‘My Yahoo’ like page that is customizable for each user. It is a dashboard that contains news from the internet, news from the main portal and personal websites, weather info, search tools, etc.
• Account Management : this is where RigSkills Clients maintain their corporate information, offices, users and inventory.

Each of the above features allows non-technical users to make use of the content management and collaboration features of Metadot via its easy to use interface.

RigSkills operates in two modes: Normal mode which displays and serves web pages and content like any other web server, and Edit mode which allows clients to add or edit/manage content of the web portal.

Only clients can activate the editing mode, and only after a successful login. Editing mode is easily activated by clicking on the ‘Enable Editing’ button embedded on the right hand side of the horizontal menu.

The Web Builder Bar appears at the bottom of the browser whenever you enter Edit Mode. it is used to add and manage pages, gizmos, and the different configurations available.

New Page Button

The site consists of pages, which in turn can contain pages within. Clicking on the New Page button, adds a page to the current working page or area of the portal. (e.g. If working on the ‘Personnel’ section, and a new page is created, it will be created under the Personnel page)

New Section Button

Clicking on the New Section button, adds a section to the current page of the portal. A section contains a block of content, which is in a sense individual to its parent page.

Add a Gizmo Dropdown

This drop-down menu contains the list of all gizmos available to be put on your web pages.. Please see the section “List of all Gizmos” for a complete listing and description.

Manage Dropdown

Use this drop-down menu to manage the different areas available for your use.

Gizmo Panel

While in Editing mode, every modifiable item or gizmo will display this panel. Different buttons enable you to perform a variety of tasks with each individual gizmo including editting, permissions and configuration.
